Chapter #2: A Look Around the Opera House~
This was too good to be true. It was really happening! Starting today, the opera house is my home, and I will begin rehearsal with Ms. Amy. She is a really nice girl, and seems to like me a whole lot, but then again, that could just be her way of showing her manners. Strange… Never-the-less, I must focus on practicing! Not only is the Winter Rose coming up, but "introductions" will also take place this month in December. I was told by one of the opera singers that introductions are like examples of what will be displayed in the actual performance. Think of the Winter Rose like the "grand finally" at the end of December. I now spent every second of time I had to spare playing in my room.
A few days passed and I was starting to get use to the opera house. I could find my way around most places. Hallways, the dining hall, the theater. However, I still got lost sometimes, and I took me an hour to find my way back to my room. Apparently, Mr. Wilkins found out about this through others that lived in the opera house, and decided he would give me a tour of the place. I accepted and we were scheduled to meet this afternoon before lunch, then go eat afterwards.
I decided to arrive 5 minutes early to show my gratitude, and surly enough, I saw Mr. Wilkins walking down the hall, accompanied by the same 2 male cats in black robes. I started to wonder who they could possibly be, but that was none of my business. The last thing I wanted to do was make a bad impression my 5th day here. We met and greeted each other, then began the tour.
1st Stop: The dining hall~
I knew where the dining hall was, but I never really got to see it for myself. It was quite a sight to behold. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling. Below were multiple tables covered in a tan and silky covering with shining glass china and sparkling silver ware on top. To the left of the hall was a table for what looked like you could set up a buffet on, then to the right was the kitchen. It was closed right now in preparation for lunch.
2nd Stop: The entrance hall~
This was where I had first entered the opera house. Now that I was given a tour, I had much more time to take a look at it. It was very gorgeous. The marble pillars, and the red-velvet carpet were stunning. I looked up and saw a beautiful and large chandelier. Like the ones in the dining hall, it was crystal based with many columns and rows of candles placed in an orderly fashion. Mr. Wilkins said that this was where they held public parties and birthday celebrations. I pictured in my mind how great it would be to celebrate my birthday here, however my birthday wasn't until February. I'd have to wait.
3rd Stop: The Grand Ballroom hall~
The sure did have lots of halls here. The Grand Ballroom was more of a dome than a hall, but no matter how you referred to it, it was still very nice. This was where all the private parties were hosted, along with marriages, baptizing, and funerals. It seemed odd to me that happy and depressing events would take place in the same room, or "hall". I'd like to go to a party here once. It would be nice.
4th & Final Stop: Back Stage~
I had been to the stage before, but not back stage. Mr. Wilkins says this is where I will be rehearsing most of the time, so it would be wise to know where it was, no doubt! It looked simple enough: Chairs set up in circles to practice, a women's, and men's changing/dressing room, music stands, risers for choruses, bathrooms to the far right, and… what is this? A… door? What? What is that door for, and what did it lead to? It was a blank and gray metal door with nothing written on it. It was also rusting on the sides a bit, and it had what looked to be a large "X" carved in the middle. It looked dangerous and scary, but curiosity still got the best of me. I walked towards the door, then looked over my shoulder to make sure Mr. Wilkins or his "men in black" didn't see me. I opened it. It made tiny creaking noises as I pushed it to the side. Before I walked through the door, I spotted some near-by flash lights and snatched one. Then…
I stepped in.
I turned back.
I shut the door.
Right away, I felt negative energy. It was dark, so I turned on my flash light. It immediately lit up a flight of stairs. With all my courage, I grabbed the rusty railing, and started to climb.
The only sound I could hear was my own two feet tapping the steps of the stair case as I climbed. At one point, I felt like I was in space, climbing a stair case to no-where. As frightened as I was, I kept climbing.
Someone was following me…
I'm. Officially. Freaked out 0-0 I'm reading this in a dark room
